Our organisations are faced with a series of financial challenges: the end of cheap money, the shortage of resources and the historical levels of inflation, mean that higher rates of return are demanded from business leaders today. CIOs and their digital teams are coming to the rescue and need to focus on the bottom line! Let’s look at this from 3 different angles.
The “Do more with less” proverb has returned and IT needs to be fit and responsive in order to run business processes cheaper and more efficiently. What’s happening with the 2023 technology budget? What measures are being taken to save money? What metrics are in place to track IT spend against business performance? How about financial engineering and technical debt reduction? Are you saving money with cloud, automation, insourcing, standardisation and simplification?
Increase wallet share. How can digital help to create more value for and revenue from our existing customers? Move from product sales to digital services, focus on the customer experience and life cycle by implementing top notch sales, marketing and support systems. Customer delight is needed in times of crisis.
Boost market share. What new value, for new customers with new business models and services are you creating? Is there still room for innovation? Where do you prioritise your resource allocation? Is there an opportunity for forward integration? How can you turn the demand for sustainable processes and targets from a business nuisance into a business driver and competitive advantage?

More than two decades devoted to technology and looking at ways for improving business.
I moved along the whole software production cycle from analysis, coding, testing and supporting. With time and maturity, I started to lead teams and manage projects with a mindset of always add value to whom I was delivering a piece of technology.
Today I am fortunate to be driving a highly skilled, large and multifunctional team in a highly competitive environment, using technology as a main value driver.
If asked, I would say that what still drives me today is the enthusiasm of a nine year old and knowing that 30 years from now when I'll look back I can say that I went to the maximum of my capabilities.

I am currently the Head of Infrastructure and Service Management for the John Lewis Partnership. Having joined the Partnership 7 years ago to lead a digital transformation -
moving from a project to product model with DevSecOps releasing change on demand, I
went on to lead all IT Operations for Waitrose until 2019 when I took on my current, pan
Partnership role which has enabled me to lead a further transformation of our operating
model and underpinning technology. This has involved consolidating to a single strategic
infrastructure vendor and establishing a shared Partnership Cloud Platform capability.
The Partnership, as a co-owned business, is a special place to work where our purpose;
Working in Partnership for a happier world, is at the forefront of our decision making. As
someone who specialises in building high performing and motivated teams, aligning behind this purpose where everyone has the ability to share in the success is incredibly rewarding. Prior to the Partnership, I worked for 15 years at Marks and Spencer in a variety of roles
covering Service Management and delivery.
I am 45 years old and live in Crowthorne in Berkshire with my wife Claire and our 3 children Freya, James and Billy. Outside of work I coach my sons Under 9s football team at Finchampstead FC and enjoy taking family walks with my black labrador Sully.
